Punk plaid pants

Punk plaid pants were tied to the punk fashion in the 1970’s.  When punk first hit the scene in the early 70’s it was from a group of young adults and kids that had had enough of the main stream lifestyle.  They were rebellious, they were angry, and they were definitely non-conforming.
Wearing plaid pants of any length from knee length to ankle length, tight fitting to baggy, plaid pants fit the look.  To take it up a notch, ripping the punk plaid pants or sewing zippers on them only made the shock value on step closer.  Completing the plaid pant look with studded belts and wallet chains was what it needed to take it over the top.
Punk plaid pants were also called “bondage pants” and once the Sex Pistols which had a punk rock band following like none other came out wearing a lot of plaid, those who choose to dress in punk fashion quickly adopted the plaid look.
Because plaid pants are so tied in with the punk era anything plaid works.  Plaid shirts of any style, ripped, torn with any size holes are great.  Sew a strip of plaid material to the bottoms of your jeans is another cool way to show your dedication to plaid.  Plaid pants of any color are always acceptable.
Top your plaid pants with a punk t-shirt of controversial sayings, your favorite rock band such as the Sex Pistols or Ramones, a black leather jacket, combat boots and a studded belt, chains and spiked wrist cuff helps make your look complete.  Rainbowed colored hair, a spiked Mohawk, bleached blond hair with black tips brings it all together.
You can make your own DIY punk plaid pants by shopping at the Thrift store and adding your own touches such as sewing zippers on them, rolling up the hems or making tears in them.  Plaid pants and punk fashion are here to stay.
