Punk plaid pants & Punk shoes

Punk shoes and boots make the punk dress complete.  From the inception of punk in the early 1970’s the punk fashion made a statement of anger, anti-conformity and rebellion.  Punk was a culture and their dress defined who they were during that time and still defines them today.
Punk boots are typically the Doc Martin style with heavy leather and laces that tie up the front.  As punk became more of a way of life the punk boots  moved toward the more pronounced lace up boots going up to the knee with a platform sole sometimes 3 or 4 inches thick and all of this made the look all the loud. The punk boots have a heel that could be flat or a 1 -5 inch raised heel.  Chains, straps, zippers or buckles covered the boot to the knee.
For the women the boots were worn with fish net stockings, the men could tuck their pants inside the boot if they wanted. For those that love their tennis shoe but want a more punk look, the tennis shoe/boot.  This is where the shoe itself resembles a tennis shoe however it didn’t stop at the ankle.  The tennis boot laced all the way to the knee.  Of course all of these different styles of punk boots were black.  Black is always the color of choice.
Punk shoes for women are typically a Mary Jane style with a soft cloth and a rubber sole.  A strap will come across the top.  These shoes come in many different colors and fabric designs.  The buckle of the shoe could be added to be a skull and crossbones, bat or scorpion.  Striped knee socks completed the look.  The men’s tennis shoes they would be printed with skull and crossbones, revolvers, scorpions or any vial saying.
